Overview

Set in Baltimore, The Wire follows the lives of police officers, drug dealers, criminals, and ordinary residents as they navigate a city shaped by the illegal drug trade, poverty, and institutional corruption. Rather than focusing on a single protagonist, the series examines both sides of the law and gradually expands its story to explore the police department, drug organizations, politics, schools, the media, and the city's struggling communities. Through interconnected characters and storylines, The Wire offers a realistic and complex look at crime, power, bureaucracy, and the social systems that shape life in Baltimore.
